The influence of institutional and in-group collectivism practices on next-generation engagement in the family business

چکیده

Purpose This research aims to investigate the influence of country culture on next generation's intention become managerial leaders family business, focussing institutional and in-group collectivism practices. The authors not only direct effect these practices next-generation engagement, but also extent which and/or moderate relationship between parental support engagement self-efficacy engagement. Design/methodology/approach Using cross-national data from Global University Entrepreneurial Spirit Students' Survey (GUESSS) Leadership Organisational Behaviour Effectiveness (GLOBE), hierarchical linear modelling (HLM) is employed test hypotheses using a sample 33,390 observations collected in 20 countries. Findings main findings show that both may increase levels. Furthermore, cultural can amplify business However, slightly reduce positive offspring's business. results reveal has stronger than self-efficacy. Originality/value study examines distinguishes collectivism. Unlike past research, considered. uses particular type self-efficacy: In addition, multi-level method employed, rarely used this context.
